Making Connections

When you are reading, it's important to think about ways in which the characters, problem, or setting might remind you of something else. It might be something else you have read or something you have experienced in your own life.
I am reading a book called Ida B. by Katherine Hannigan. In the story, Ida B. is really angry because her mother is very sick. She takes out her anger on her family and her friends. This story reminds me of times I have come home and taken out my frustrations on my family. It wasn't nice for Ida B. to do it, and I am not proud of doing it either!
What are you reading? Does it remind you of anything else? Don't forget to include the title and author of the book so we can check it out if it seems like a good book!

  1. I read Junie B., First Grader Shipwrecked by Barbara Park. It was about Mr. Scary's class doing a play about Christopher Columbus finding a new route to go to China. The book was about teamwork, and how Junie B. and May didn't get along. At the end, Junie B. said she was sorry to the whole class, except May. I liked this book. You should read it too!

  2. I read a book called The Bully from the Black Lagoon. The auther is Mike Thaler. This book is about a kid who lets his imagintion get the best of him. He worrys about stuff before he gets to know things. I sometimes do that. Like times I go to the doctors for a check up. I worry that I will get a shot and the doctor will be mean. This never happens, I don't always get shots, and I like my doctor.
